Beware of false prophets … and profits!
Mary and Lidio Bisa from Yenda committed to a 1.5 kw system over the phone in 2012 after they were called by a business based in Melbourne who claimed to have a ‘local’ presence. They were interested in solar and when told they would qualify for the generous rebates offered by the State Government if they moved quickly.
This business assured Mr and Mrs Bisa it used quality parts and provided excellent after sales service including all the standard warranties.
The reality was that they sent an unqualified contractor with virtually no experience to install the system which included low-end, unreliable panels and a faulty inverter.
In less than 12 months the inverter had failed and the panels had significant cracks. When they called the sales company they were told to contact the installer. When the installer finally responded to their calls he denied all liability.
“We were completely disillusioned with solar,” explained Mary. “We felt we’d been completely conned”.
When it was clear the Melbourne company wouldn’t honour any warranty the Bisa’s contacted Solar Mad. Mary said Solar Mad took the time to come and meet them and review the system.
“Solar Mad confirmed the system was barely functioning and beyond repair,” she said.
“Lido and I decided to replace the original system with a new system supplied by Solar Mad.”
“They were completely transparent and professional throughout the entire process and have checked up on us several times to ensure the new system is performing at its best.
“We now realise we should have dealt with a local business and not a faceless person in a call centre in Sydney or Melbourne.
“We thought we had lost our investment and rebates but Solar Mad ensured we got back on track quickly.
“We are extremely grateful to Darren and Brian for their help and feel very lucky to have found them.”
